Support/Join Us

Membership

Membership is $50 per year ($75 for families) and entitles members to the use of all services and facilities of the library. Honorary membership is awarded to those who have made a significant contribution to the library. To become a member of the Lanier Library, please call us at (828) 859-9535.

Gifts and Memorials

The library receives no public funds and is supported by gifts, endowments, and membership fees. All gifts are tax deductible. Memorial funds allow the library to purchase material not available through its regular budget and is a special way to pay tribute to a friend or loved one.

To make a lasting contribution to the Tryon area, consider making a special gift, endowment contribution or estate bequest to the Lanier Library Association. Please call the library at (828) 859-9535 and ask for the Executive Director's office.

Grants

The new Library ILS (Integrated Library System) by TLC Inc. has been made possible by a generous grant from the Polk County Community Foundation. The Lanier Library has used a homegrown Access database since 2007 that was created by a former board member. While this system served its purpose at the time, the new system brings the Library in line with modern Integrated Library Systems used throughout the country.

The new ILS allows Library members to check out, renew and put holds on books as well as manage and pay membership fees and donations online. This is a major enhancement for the Library and will enable us to deliver more and better services to our patrons.

Without the grant from the Polk Community Foundation the Library would not have been able to make this important and significant upgrade to the Library. The Lanier Library is the oldest community organization in Polk County. It has been enhancing the quality of life for all residents since 1890.
