         Come by the library on Wednesdays through the summer for stories with Ms Amber at 10 AM.   July 5, 12, 19,and 26, and August 2.  All ages.

Live@Lanier - Audobon Photographer David Ahrenholz

     Burn patient specialist David Ahrenholz, MD FACS, found physical and emotional rejuvenation during his long career by photographing butterflies as a Research Associate for the Smithsonian Entomology Department.  He will present stories and insights on his work as well as beautiful butterfly photographs.

Literary Open Stage 

       Open stage event for area writers to read original works.  Doors open and sign up begins at 6:30 pm and all have 10 minutes to read from their work.

 

July 29, 2017, Saturday 10 AM-12 PM or 1 PM-3 PM

Family Program - Reading with Rescue Horses at Puddin' Pie's Place

        Children aged 5 and up will visit the library to choose a book then take provided transportation to Puddin' Pie's Place, a non-profit farm with miniature horses.  Children will be schooled in talking with and grooming the horses before sitting down to read with them!  Children younger than five can join their parents for farm stories and crafts on the farm.  Return to the library after the visit for refreshments.

 

August 2-3, 2017, Wednesday-Thursday 10 AM-4 PM

Book Repair and Restoration Clinic with Judith Beers in the Lanier Library LeDuc Room

          Learn the basics of repairing pages, end caps, corners, hinges and spines with renowned book binder and restoration specialist Judith Beers.  Workshop fee of $240 includes materials. Reading with Rescue Horses

Sara Lyter, owner of Puddin' Pie's Place, a non-profit rescue farm, and friends discuss using equine therapy to enhance reading outcomes for children.  Photos from our July Family Program visit to the farm will complement the discussion.
